History
A Highly Regarded Investment Firm Since 1970
RCM Capital Management LLC (RCM) was founded in 1970 as Rosenberg Capital Management by Claude Rosenberg in San Francisco. While much has changed since our founding, our belief that proprietary sector-based fundamental research is the foundation of a successful investment process remains central to our philosophy.
In 1996, RCM Capital Management LLC became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dresdner Bank AG.
In 1997, together with two previous Dresdner acquisitions, (Thornton, UK and Hong Kong, 1988 and Kleinwort Benson Investment Management, UK, 1995), RCM’s global platform was established with the formation of Dresdner RCM Global Investors.
In July 2001, Dresdner Bank AG and Allianz SE, an AA- (S&P) rated insurance company, joined to create Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI), one of the world’s largest asset management companies.
Finally in 2004, Dresdner RCM Global Investors was re-branded RCM, to highlight a continued commitment to our original sector-based investment philosophy.
Today, RCM combines the financial strength of Allianz SE with a successful investment culture and a full range of capabilities required of today's asset managers. RCM is a key component of Allianz' overall asset management program and fits into the structure as one of the specialist, active equity platforms. Though our size, ownership structure, and global reach have increased over time through mergers and acquisitions, we have maintained the same investment philosophy and process that distinguishes RCM’s global platform.
RCM and its predecessor organizations have established investment capabilities in the UK since the 19th century, in the United States since 1970 and in Asia since 1973. Over these years RCM gained considerable regional experience and developed a consistent philosophy and investment style, which has been applied on a global basis since 1997.
